The central mission of the Roseville Economic Development Authority is to enhance opportunities in Roseville through economic development and redevelopment programs.

The Roseville City Council created REDA in November 2015. REDA adopted the administration of programs formerly under the umbrella of the City’s Housing and Redevelopment Authority.

REDA coordinates planning, programs, and policies aimed at improving the local business environment, attracting new investment, and revitalizing areas of Roseville. That includes launching numerous campaigns that support new and existing businesses.

Choose Roseville

Developing and maintaining positive relationships between existing enterprises and the Roseville community enables business growth. REDA-led initiatives have helped navigate relationship-building in both economically challenging times and more robust years.

The Choose Roseville campaign is a top example of simultaneous community building and promotion. The campaign was launched to assist with the recovery of local businesses after COVID-19.
Through the effort, additional exposure of local businesses, real estate, and jobs demonstrated the options available for residents to enjoy all facets of life in the city. Simultaneously, the local economy is strengthened through dollars reinvested in local businesses.

Expanding business opportunities

REDA also contributes to the growth of local businesses through recruitment efforts and workforce development initiatives.

Retention and expansion efforts include visits to local businesses where officials learn firsthand about current challenges, emerging opportunities, and community needs.

REDA also provides vital resources, incentives, and other educational tools designed to start new businesses on the path to success and level up existing enterprises.

Amplify business opportunities with free marketing resources

Even the best business concepts need an extra push to resonate with contemporary consumers. Successful marketing strategies can be the differentiating factor helping local businesses stand out in a crowded marketplace.

REDA offers a freely available marketing toolkit to help establish several key marketing elements, such as a social media presence.

A combination of guides and videos navigate through setting up social profiles, posting, planning, creating graphics, and investing in Google and Facebook Ads. With these tools, getting started with marketing is simplified.

For growing businesses, they can serve as a stepping stone to larger plans and programs.

Connect with local resources

Economic development requires establishing partnerships with both local businesses and relevant outside agencies. Other business resources recommended by REDA include the CEO Next Business Institute, the Twin Cities Small Business Development Center, and the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The CEO Next Business Institute, a resource program for second-stage businesses, offers business research and support at no cost. Peer learning, access to experts, and forum events create new possibilities for growing businesses.

For expanding and newly launched ventures, the Twin Cities SBDC is a go-to resource for formalizing business plans, establishing financials, developing marketing strategies, and more.

Sharing incentives

Financing a startup or expansion is always a point of concern, and economic development agencies like REDA help businesses connect with the most relevant resources for their needs.

Some programs are local, such as public financing possibilities through tax increment financing or tax abatement. Others are spearheaded by the state of Minnesota or federal agencies.
