Qualifications:

REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION: • Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle. • Minimum job requirements are basic knowledge and experience in instructing or working with youth • Basic reading, communication, math and problem solving skills equivalent to that of a High School level • Is punctual, reliable and dependable in regards to work schedule. • Organized with high attention to detail and ability to follow through • Possesses positive, energetic and fun-loving attitude. • Able to provide leadership, supervise and instruct participants, and communicate effectively. • Must have concussion training certificate by the first day of staff training (provided by the City of Roseville) • Available to work morning, afternoon and evening hours. • Saturday morning hours required for Sports Coordinator.

Recreation Coordinators generally work outside at the parks or inside the park buildings. The position requires high attention to detail or deadlines 50-75% of the time and moderate physical effort of moving up to 15 pounds 25% of the time. Coordinator position schedules vary based on program hours and needs. Hours range from 25-40 hours per week.

Recreation Staff is responsible for varied technical, complex, and confidential functions, many of which have deadlines and require significant attention to detail.

Activities that occur constantly (5–8 hours/shift): walking, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, and grasping.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. • Develop program plans and assist program staff in the implementation and follow through. • Provide leadership and work direction to seasonal summer staff, plan and implement staff meetings and summer staff training as well as enforce disciplinary actions when necessary. • Effectively communicate with site staff, office staff, families and participants • Provide a safe environment for participants, enforce established safety policies and follow appropriate safety procedures. • Execute first aid and emergency procedures as needed and complete appropriate reports. • Perform daily checks on program sites, help with participant behavior issues and follow through with parent contact as needed. • Assist in the development and implementation of program and event newsletters and marketing. • Continually shows respect for diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and interests. Exhibits sensitivity to the needs of diverse audiences in all duties performed on behalf of the City to support Roseville in building and sustaining an inclusive and equitable working environment and community. • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Other Information:

The Recreation Coordinator position provides leadership and work direction to assigned program area staff along with maintaining daily staff logistics and management, following through with program plan expectations, and ensure supplies and equipment are available to staff.

The Recreation Coordinator positions are seasonal and work under the readily available supervision of the Recreation Supervisor. Each Coordinator assists in managing recreation program and event offerings- including the development of program plans, projects, games, and activities as well as logistics, and customer service. Each position assists in overseeing assigned programs, staff and activities to ensure they meet specific expectations and the needs of participants and their ability level. Recreation Coordinators have continuous public contact requiring tact, courtesy and good judgment. Each position’s schedule varies based on program hours and needs ranging up to 40 hours per week.
